The myristylated pentapeptide Myr-KRTLR is an effective inhibitor of the protein kinase C (PKC)-catalyzed histone phosphorylation (inhibitory constant, IC₅₀ = 75 µM). It competes with the phosphoacceptor substrate of PKC and interacts with the phospholipid cofactor of the enzyme.
